FAQs

How do I join the Ballet Bodies Collective?

We hold an annual application / audition process that usually takes place in June/July. Please sign up for our newsletter to make sure you get all the details.

Can I still join Ballet Bodies collective if I do not attend the audition?

This is not a Yes or No answer. If you are interested in joining the collective, we recommend joining our drop-in classes first and then talk to Serenella about your goals/availability.

Can I take ballet classes with you if I am not part of the collective?

Yes! If room capacity allows it, you can drop-in all our classes. For more information, click here.

How do I know who is teaching?

We will be posting the schedule every month. You can see it in our social media feed or website.

What do you do with the money you make from drop-ins?

We are a non-profit and all the money goes towards the collective. This means the extra money we get will go towards guest teachers, choreographers, rental fees, show, costumes, etc.

How do I register for a drop-in class?

You can register here.

I am a beginner ballet dancer…can I still drop-in?

We suggest trying one class first and see how you feel. Our classes will be Advanced and perhaps you won’t get the guidance and teaching you need and deserve. However, we create a safe environment where you can absolutely try, and we promise there will NOT BE any judgment.

Why can’t I use my pass for Wednesday classes?

We are lucky to have a partnership with DJD on Wednesdays. This means you will have to register through their system and pay their rate to attend our Wednesday classes.

I used to dance ballet a lot, but I haven’t danced in years… should I still come?

Absolutely! We pride ourselves to have a safe space where you can take ownership of your own training. We encourage you to come and enjoy ballet without judgment or negativity!

Do I have to wear pointe shoes in class?

NO! you do not have to. However, you are more than welcome to use them at your own pace if you have previous experience. We would not recommend wearing pointe shoes during class if you have never been on pointe before.
