Choreographer

Barbara England

(She/Her)

Barbara England is an independent choreographer, dancer and performance artist. After a decade of performing contemporary dance pieces for the stage, her practice broadened to include installation, participatory performance, and dance on film. Barbara completed postgraduate studies in conceptual choreography at Sozo vim (DE) and has been making things ever since. Her work has been shaped by the people and places she has encountered along her path, including near-and-dear  collaborators, mentors, and artistic research residencies. Barbara’s work is stylistically undefined, with the process and outcomes depending on the unique alchemy of the people, personalities, and circumstances of the room. Whether it results in a dance piece for the stage or a participatory public art happening, every piece is approached with experimental vigour and collective care.

Performers

Lane Sayer

(He/They)

Lane Sayer is an emerging artist from Mohkinstsis, currently pursuing a BA in English from the University of Calgary with a minor in dance and an embedded certificate in creative writing. He began dancing with Dance Spectrum Inc. in ballet, tap, jazz, and contemporary styles and has since danced and trained with Corps Bara Dance Theatre’s CBII program, ORIANTHEATRE Dance Company’s Paris Summer Academy, and the University of Calgary dance program. Recently, Lane has worked with One Voice Chorus in a performance combining dance theatre with live choral music, and he hopes to continue exploring interdisciplinary art.  Lane is curious about the unifying power of movement and the importance of play in our lives.
